What would you be doing if you weren’t working at INPAC?

I fell in love with Japan when I visited in 2014. If I weren’t working for INPAC, I’d love to spend most of my time there. However, if I wasn’t working at INPAC, I’m sure my life would be mundane.

I love helping our clients pursue their dreams. The only reason why I wouldn’t be at INPAC would be if I chose to retire. I’m a workaholic, though, so I know I’ll always work in some capacity.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I ever received was from a life coach who is now one of my great friends: “Life is like a wheel of balance — each spoke represents physical, spiritual, financial, family and community balance.”

Life can be busy. It’s so easy to get caught up on just one aspect of life and let the others suffer or fall short. Trying to create a balanced wheel in all areas of life can help make life more fulfilling. However, creating that balance is easier said than done.

Realizing that everyone is human helped the entire INPAC ohana become better planners because it’s not always about the numbers — it’s about our clients’ wheels and how we can make the most out of each spoke.

Why do you do what you do?

I got familiar with the concept of “being in business” while growing up in the family fish business on Kauai. Only now have I really come to understand the true meaning of being in a business that is worth being in. There is something so fulfilling about designing wealth plans that can help our clients enjoy every stage of life.

Why do you do what you do?

I grew up watching my mother build a company from the ground up. She woke up every morning at 4 a.m. to bake personalized cookies — grabbing all of the ingredients, mixing the dough and pulling out multiple racks in the oven. She would finally return home at 8 p.m. just to start the process all over again the next day.

As a teenager, my whole family would help by doing deliveries every day to stores. We even shipped Cookkwee’s Cookies to Canada once. After 30 years, these cookies are still on the shelves of many grocery stores in Maui.

I respect my mom so much, and I know there are so many other humble beginnings out there — many of which include hardworking families who work diligently to build and preserve their legacy. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve and make a difference in people’s lives.

What’s the best advice you ever received?

“If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought” by Piece Pilgrim.

When you go through life, there are so many good things and bad things that happen. If you react negatively to those, your entire world can change. You have the power to set the tone for your life.

What do you love most about being a part of INPAC?

INPAC is a prime example of humble beginnings and hardworking families coming together. I cherish that. I love being a part of a team that extends our hands to the rest of Hawaii, just like my family did for each other growing up.

Why do you do what you do?

I have always wanted to help others and make a positive and significant difference in their lives. This was something I pursued with a passion for my entire career as an insurance and financial services professional. 36 years later, I still find it extremely rewarding and fulfilling to help people prepare and protect themselves from life's uncertainties, and to help them achieve financial security and financial success. This is definitely something I continue to enjoy doing each day as an INPAC financial advisor!

What are you passionate about?

I am very passionate about helping people help themselves. We all have such amazing potential to achieve so many great things. Negative thoughts, fears, and worry can have devastating effects on our psyche and ultimately, our destiny. I know how it feels to be afraid, worried, and alone. I also know how good if feels to have support, guidance, advice, and mentorship. I was very fortunate to have had the help and support of wonderful people at the times in my life when I needed it the most. It is my greatest passion to pay this precious gift forward and help as many as I can, whether it be through my work as a financial advisor, as a volunteer for charities or youth sports, or simply as a friend.

What do you love most about being a part of INPAC?

Every single team member at INPAC has a very sincere and deep desire to positively impact and truly make a difference in our client's lives. We all do our absolute best to help our clients achieve financial success and help them to be able to live their dreams. I love being with a firm that helps make people's dreams come true!
